Gabi Rutkowski
Lactation Consultant
and
Craniosacral Therapist
I wanted to be a nurse for as long as I could remember. Becoming a nurse was worth all of the time and effort of my 8 year journey through nursing school while raising a family. Circumstances had me start my RN career in the ER, where I worked for 13 years. Then I decided to change direction to my first interest- Obstetric Nursing. I worked for 10 years in all areas of OB- Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby post-partum, and NICU/ Special Care Nursery. It has been a huge privilege to be a part of a patient and family's life during this significant time. It was while I was an OB nurse that I discovered my true love and passion- helping moms and babies to breast feed. I started helping mothers in-home, through word of mouth, in addition to helping with breastfeeding as an OB nurse. From then on, all of my continuing education was lactation focused. I completed the Certified Lactation Counselor and Certified Lactation Specialist programs. In 2013, I obtained certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I worked as a lactation consultant in the hospital and in the outpatient clinic settings for 11 years. I also taught prenatal breastfeeding classes to parents and provided breastfeeding education to OB Department nurses. Then, over the course of 2 years, I completed certification in Craniosacral Therapy (CILT). Craniosacral therapy is a valuable, additional resource I am excited to offer in my lactation practice. I am looking forward to helping families at BW Breastfeeding Support and Bodywork!
